Wreath for the Queen

Together with other local organisations, Felpham Village Conservation Society has laid a wreath for Her Late
Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at a Special Commemoration Service marking the sad death of Her Late Majesty that
was held at St Mary's Church, Felpham, at 6.00 pm on Sunday 18th September.

The wreath has been made on a birch twig base, in the main using flora from a
Felpham garden. There are olive branches for peace, rosemary for remembrance,
white heather for protection - but also the Scottish connection, pittosporum
to represent New Zealand - the farthest south of the Commonwealth realms, and
sea holly - because we are a coastal village and because it has been used in
the past to signify the late Duke of Edinburgh's naval career.

The inscription simply says:

With heartfelt gratitude for the life and dedication of HM Queen
Elizabeth II

At the still point of the turning world
