TUESDAY JULY 21ST DAY 7Ross left Seatown Beach at 6.14am. Long day, he arrived at Chiswell beach at 4.05pm. Approx 28 miles.  Tide was in Ross’s favour today and no easterly wind.  “I looked out of my sleeping bag and saw a mirage of me, a small white fishing boat with man standing up, thought I was dreaming. Only to visualise later, David Tennant waving to me at West Bay.”   It's amazing what sea air can do for you!  “Saw what I thought would be a good landing point at Chesil Beach only to find about 70ft high shingle at an angle of 45° - miles of it and I didn’t see anybody. Finally got to a village tucked into the corner of Chesil Beach and Portand, luckily after emptying boat someone helped me pull it up the 45° shingle there too. The Cove House Inn dinner of whitebait and mussels. Hopefully weather looking good for next few days”.  Glenn left Litten Lakes camping, at 7.30am.“I was very tired and I’m off late this morning. Beautiful morning but promises another hot day. Got chatting to the site owners and drank wine, as you do on a campsite in the middle of nowhere! Lovely farming people. On this quaint little site with only solar power. Just to Dorchester today. Short one. Across more fields and pathways and then I’ll get a bus along the last A35 section. It’s just too dangerous to walk these busy A roads and not fair on drivers. Night in the Sydney Arms.” Today he walked through fields that weren’t clearly marked and had to walk around a field of maize as the path was obliterated. Approx. 11 mile section today and arrived at 2.25pm Both Glenn and Ross are finding many landscapes and seascape are changing through time and nature.WEDNESDAY JULY 22nd DAY 8A day of Military Manoeuvres of two halves. Glenn forced to reroute on land as area for MOD firing range closure, Ross asked to go 2 miles off the coast for firing exercise, details in both their details below.   Ross managed to pre-order breakfast for today, as leaving later due to tides.He left at 9.45am, rounded Portland Bill at 10.56am. Early afternoon he was approached by DMS Romney which is a 12 metre range safety and training vessel operated by the UK Ministry of Defence, asking him if he could go round their military training exercise by 2 miles out to sea, this wasn't possible in the sea conditions. They were brilliant, paused the firing and towed Ross through the area at 7knots, back to the coast, viewing the Smyrtos Tanker, carrying Russian Urals crude oil intercepted  by the Royal Navy and now at anchor off the Dorset coast.     The crew also gave him a bag containing water, bananas and goodies.  I was contacted by Bob May, who had been contacted by Ministry of Defense connected with exercise, as they had seen the St Wilfrid’s Hospice poster in the boat and Mays sponsorship sign on the boat to say what had happened and that Ross was safe.It was then a long long rowing day with back eddies and strong currents from Kimmerage Bay to Swanage, with its rock ledges, he finally made Swanage at 9.30pm, landed by the Sailing Club which closed as he got there!!!!  On the hunt for something to eat. Approx 30 miles rowed today.     Glenn left Dorchester 7.24am and unfortunately didn't have a great a great walking day approx 11 miles on his watch mostly main road, quite dangerous, so bus out of Dorchester to the start of the cycle way and later bus into Wareham, but in-between a quiet rather monotonous walk including walled garden cafe, a pub and lots of bikes."This section hasn’t been a good one but I was forced to abandon my planed route via Osmington as the MOD range is closed to walkers till 25th. So forced north. I wouldn’t have done it had I known. Just too many main roads. Tomorrow I can get back to walking.  Approx 10 miles to the Sandbanks ferry. Then approx 4.5 miles to my hostel. No campsites in downtown Bournemouth!
